It’s Official! The Master Recycler Program has moved from the City of Portland to Metro and has a new Program Manager.

Everyone, meet Stacy Ludington!

Stacy Ludington (with the clipboard). Back in 2016, she became a certified Master Recycler by doing hundreds of hours working with kids in schools through her position as a Confluence AmeriCorps member.

She’s a Master Recycler Centurion (Class 61) and is coming to us after six years of supporting Master Recyclers as their primary contact with Clackamas County Sustainability and Solid Waste (indeed, many of you Master Recyclers in Clackamas County already know her!). There, she connected Master Recyclers with community engagement opportunities and helped build community through yearly appreciation gatherings, summer kick off events and continued education trainings. Stacy was active in supporting Repair Fairs, as well as starting Clackamas County’s Library of Things across nine libraries. She also Chaired the Clackamas County’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council where she served as an advisor and collaborator with the Equity and Inclusion Office on County equity issues.

Many thanks to all who helped with this competitive recruitment, including Metro staff, local jurisdiction partners, and Master Recyclers of Color community members and CBO leaders.

Hello from Stacy Ludington

Hello Master Recyclers!

Supporting you all in Clackamas County was the best part of my job, and now I cannot believe it gets to be more than just a part. My favorite things were hearing your passions and what motivates you to join this program. I’ve been honored in helping you be the resource you want to be to your community, and in doing what I can to make the projects you take on shine. I love being a part of your story.

Words cannot express how thankful and excited I am. I can’t wait to meet more of you, and I hope to have gatherings soon in a neighborhood near you where you can reconnect with other Master Recyclers and meet me in person. I have ideas! I know you all love continuing education opportunities; I want to do more and find more ways to appreciate YOU and all your amazing work.

I also want to acknowledge the relationship many of you had with Lauren, and how my relationship with you will be different. I feel this particularly for those of you who went through a community designed course. I also feel this for you Master Recyclers who speak Spanish. I don’t, and I’m hyper aware how Lauren’s Spanish may have made you feel more connected. I do have those around me at Metro who speak Spanish, including my supervisor, and I am excited to learn it myself. (Though, I must admit, I’m a little nervous!)

Please stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to meet. It’s hard for me to wait.

Stacy
