The mission of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is to be a leader in restoring, maintaining and enhancing the quality of Oregon's air, water and land. DEQ has a centralized policy and planning component and regional offices to accomplish this mission.
The Environmental Solutions Division is responsible for collecting environmental information, analyzing environmental information and developing sound and effective environmental strategies. The Division ensures that the technical and scientific expertise is available to inform and carry out these responsibilities. In partnership with others, the Division takes a comprehensive and holistic view of environmental impacts and seeks to create solutions that enable actions that can reduce those impacts.
The Materials Management Section plans and implements policies, programs and projects to reduce impacts of materials and products throughout their full life cycle, from design and production through distribution, consumption and use and management at end-of-life, including recycling and composting.
DEQ is hiring for a full-time, limited duration Operations and Policy Analyst 3, Communications/Outreach Specialist in our Materials Management Section of the Environmental Solutions Division. As a limited duration position, the assignment will extend through June 30, 2017 with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will develop and implement communications, branding/marketing/social media campaigns, outreach and education strategies, programs and action plans to support the Materials Management Program and to reduce the environmental and public health impacts of materials consistent with Materials Management in Oregon: 2050 Vision and Framework for Action.
