The Environmental Solutions Division is responsible for collecting environmental information, analyzing environmental information and developing sound and effective environmental strategies. The Division ensures that the technical and scientific expertise is available to inform and carry out these responsibilities. In partnership with others, the Division takes a comprehensive and holistic view of environmental impacts and seeks to create solutions that enable actions that can reduce those impacts.
The Materials Management Section plans and implements policies, programs and projects to reduce impacts of materials and products throughout their full life cycle, from design and production through distribution, consumption and use and management at end-of-life, including recycling and composting.
DEQ has an exceptional opportunity for candidates interested in serving as an Operations & Policy Analyst 3 in our Materials Management Section of the Environmental Solutions Division. The position serves as a senior policy analyst in support of the Materials Management Section and Materials Management in Oregon: 2050 Vision and Framework for Action.
The successful candidate will work closely with the program's management team, legislative analyst and senior project staff and will lead and participate in teams evaluating and developing policy options, administrative rules, legislative proposals and strategic plans for the program as well as specific projects. They will conduct extensive engagement with stakeholders on specific projects, policies and legislative issues and will lead the development of a regular forum to facilitate communication between DEQ and stakeholders. The person in this position will also serve as a subject matter expert in the area of extended producer responsibility. Experience in materials management, including extended producer responsibility, is desirable but not required.
