Oregon Green Schools is a 501 (c)(3) and has been inspiring and helping students act to conserve resources in their schools for over 20 years. OGS provides free assistance and support to schools across the state in establishing and maintaining conservation and sustainability programs that shape the next generation of environmental leaders. Our outreach is rooted in a comprehensive certification framework, student events and a network of regional coordinators that provide coaching and technical assistance. OGS connects green team leaders to learning resources and activities, funding sources and local experts that can help guide schools on their sustainability journey.
We are uniquely positioned within the environmental education sector to nurture a thriving network of students, schools, and communities, building mutually beneficial relationships with educators, government agencies and sustainability professionals. We serve as a bridge, bringing sustainability experts and organizations together to foster innovation and avoid duplicating services.

Position Summary:
The OGS Program Coordinator supports activities within the Oregon Green School’s resource efficiency programs. This position supports OGS’s public education and outreach programs including updating web information, developing outreach materials such as social media and newsletters, maintaining database information, and representing the organization regionally as appropriate. This position is part-time, about 20 hours per month, or 5 hours per week. A full-time position will be a possibility in the future.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:
● The Program Coordinator will work with the Board Chair to develop an annual work plan.
● Create and maintain membership databases of schools, Regional Coordinators, and sponsors.
● Connect with Regional Coordinators regularly to stay up to date on the status of regional OGS schools’ activities and certifications.
● Coordinate distribution of awards materials to schools as they certify.
● Write, update, and manage the website on Squarespace.
● Write and distribute newsletters every other month through the Mailchimp platform.
● Develop social media content and outreach campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, or other outreach platforms.
● Support virtual or in person events including webinars, tours, demonstrations, award ceremonies, and summits.
● Attend Board of Director and Board Committee meetings as requested.
● Assist in grant writing and fundraising efforts.
● Manage sponsor interactions and updates about OGS to sponsors.
● Write and distribute correspondence, email letters, memos, etc. as directed by the Board of Directors.
● Work collaboratively with National Wildlife Federation’s, Eco-schools USA on partnership and joint certifications.
● Staff must live in Oregon with an ability to travel for some in person events. Otherwise, location and working hours are flexible. Some evenings or weekends might be required.
● Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
● Education in business, office administration, non-profit management, or non-profit experience.
● Experience in one or more of the following areas: Web editing, Squarespace, electronic and social networking sites, writing, grant preparation, file management, office management.
● Must be knowledgeable of sustainability practices including (but not limited to): recycling, energy conservation, environmental justice, and sustainability education.
● Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
● Must be entrepreneurial, energetic, well organized, and capable of functioning independently.
● Experience or familiarity with schools, school systems, or districts.
● Excellent verbal and written skills.
● Demonstrated leadership qualities.

COMPENSATION:
This is a contract position. It is expected that the coordinator works approximately 5 hours per week, approximately 260 hours a year, on OGS business. OGS will pay $25 - $30/hour dependent on experience.
