Portland Community College is recruiting for a team-oriented individual passionate about reducing waste to join the college’s district sustainability team and advance the department’s important work. Under the direction of the Sustainability Manager, the Recycling Coordinator oversees the college's recycling and other waste reduction programs including coordinating hauling services, managing outreach and researching and implementing new programs. Additionally, the position supports sustainability and waste reduction goals by leading recycling and waste reduction training, coordinating behavior change efforts, and developing curriculum to support program needs. The Recycling Coordinator participates in a variety of internal and external committees and represents the college and program at events, conferences and meetings. This position also assists the Sustainability team with a variety of district-wide projects and programs and plays a leadership role in implementing future initiatives in line with the college’s Climate Action Plan and Strategic Plan.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental, Physical, or Social Sciences or related field (experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis).
One year of professional level experience in an area of sustainability, environmental studies, waste management, or related field to include program coordination or development.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Regular travel between College facilities and other locations is required. Position involves occasional bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 60 lbs. while performing job duties. Walking, climbing stairs and entering cramped and difficult locations may be part of routine activities depending on work locations. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. Regular lifting, guiding and/or carrying of materials is required. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise and temperature extremes.
