Events Manager I
Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is hiring for an Event Manager I. The Event Manager I role is responsible for the full scope of event management responsibilities for smaller and/or local events that take place at OCC. We are looking for an event professional with strong written and verbal communication, a problem solving attitude and excellent relationship building skills to serve as a liaison to events at OCC. If you are in event management or operations, and want a place to expand your skillset and work on some of the city’s largest events, this is the position for you. Events Manager II
Oregon Convention Center (OCC) is hiring for an Event Manager II. The Event Manager II role is responsible for the full scope of event management responsibilities for large, national and/or complex events that take place at OCC. We are looking for a seasoned events professional with strong written and verbal communication, robust creative problem solving skills, and expert knowledge in planning and executing events to lead clients in creating their most successful events at OCC. If you are in event management, and want a place to challenge your skillset to work on the city’s largest conventions and events, this is the position for you. As the Events Manager I, you will:
Meet with clients to determine event needs and logistical planning. This includes, providing guidance on available and needed services for event success.
Manage, coordinate and oversee services provided to clients, such as audiovisual, telecommunications, operations, guest services, public safety services and parking.
Manage and direct staff and contractors during events ensuring proper execution and client satisfaction.
Manage and coordinate the needs of clients with vendors, contractors and other departments to ensure appropriate services are provided.
Prepare event documents, including production and event schedule, service orders and staffing orders to communicate efficiently with clients, staff and vendors.
Use drafting software to prepare floor plans; ensuring layout meets fire code, placement of equipment and layout is efficient and manageable, and clearly communicates needs and execution to setup team.
Prepare and reconcile event settlements. This may include client disputes, verifying actuals, proper documentation to support charges, and verifying discounts and incentives.
Support the sales department by conducting site tours, meeting with clients and up-selling services.
Ensure event compliance with policies, procedures, codes, ordinances, regulations and other requirements, including but not limited to OHSA and fire code.
Day of event execution. Onsite to ensure event plans are in motion, navigate challenges and obstacles as they arise, support client and staff, manage radio calls, and jump in where needed to ensure high levels of service execution and client satisfaction.
As an Events Manager II you will:
In addition to the duties and responsibilities above, the Event Manager II:
Performs the duties of Event Manager I when needed.
Assists with the training of new Event Management staff.

Bachelor’s degree in event management, public relations, marketing, business administration, or related field, and
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in event management for a public assembly facility/larger hotel, Or
Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications: (Events Manager II)

A minimum of two (3) years of experience in event management for a public assembly facility/larger hotel Or

COMPENSATION AND REPRESENTATION
Event Manager I:
Based on the Oregon Pay Equity Act , and our internal equity review process and the candidates qualifications the Event Manager I position will typically be made between $65,338.00 to $66,300.00. The full-salary range for the Event Manager I position is $65,338.00 to $88,881.00 annually.
Event Manager II:
Based on the Oregon Pay Equity Act , and our internal equity review process and the candidates qualifications the Event Manager II position will typically be made between $69,674.00 to $72,000.00. The full-salary range for the Event Manager II position is $69,674.00 to $96,870.00 annually.
This position is non-represented and not eligible for overtime and is classified as an Events Manager I or an Events Manager II (Events Manager I & II Classification ). Classification descriptions are typically written broadly and do not include the specific duties and responsibilities of the positions.
