Pay Scale: $18 per hour

Position Description

ReClaim It (“the store”) is a retail store operated by Cracked Pots, Inc (CP), a non-profit environmental arts organization devoted to waste reduction. The store sells objects and materials rescued from the waste stream, in order to inspire people to reuse or reimagine them. This position reports directly to the Store Manager, and works cooperatively with CP Communications Manager, store staff, and RCI store volunteers.


Duties of Social Media Lead

The Social Media Lead duties include:

  • Promote customer interest in store inventory by creating original content for ReClaim It through a variety of online and social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.

  • Create social media content (for various social media platforms) in a thoughtful and creative manner consistent with RCI branding and style.

  • Stage photos/videos in the store, with an eye on highlighting the quirky nature of RCI, while also expressing the wide range of materials that pass through the store.

  • Work with volunteers when possible to help create compelling social media posts.

  • Work independently in an active and fluid environment.

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Manager and Store Manager.

  • Respond to social media comments within 1 working day, with tact, wit, and professional sensibility.

  • Use scheduling tools to post to social media outlets on days off.

  • Create monthly board reports reflecting social media activities.

  • Attend staff meetings.

  • Attend board meetings as requested.

  • Create a detailed and accurate timesheet on a monthly basis.

  • Help customers and help create a positive shopping experience.

  • Pinch hit for colleagues at times of intense store activity.

  • Keyholder responsibilities, including opening/closing the store as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • A commitment to recycling, waste reduction, and reuse, with an emphasis on creative reuse.

  • Verifiable experience using Instagram, Facebook, and other Social Media outlets.

  • Experience producing quality photos and videos.

  • Ability to write in an appealing manner, in a tone that is consistent with RCI branding, and relay information with accuracy and timeliness.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Some experience in a retail environment.

  • Availability and openness to flexible work hours.

  • A sense of humor; in our constantly changing work environment, the ability to be flexible and move from task to task is key.

  • A keen sense of organization.

  • Experience merchandising as well as creating signage and other in-store displays will be a plus.
