RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Adelante Mujeres Agriculture and Food Sovereignty team, the Farmer’s Market Crew Member: Waste Center provides logistical and customer service support to the Forest Grove and Cornelius Farmer’s Markets. The Crew Member will focus on leading the Waste Center Program within each Farmer’s Market. They will promote a community space for family engagement and intercultural exchange and support local small businesses that are vendors of the markets. The Farmer’s Market Crew Member will report to the Farmer’s Market Coordinator.

·         Support the Farmer’s Market Coordinator in all operations of the Waste Center Program

·         Lead the set-up and take-down of the Waste Center at the Farmer’s Market

·         Lead and train volunteers to staff the Waste Center and Education Table

·         Oversee reusable dishware program, working with vendors, customers, and Commercial Kitchen to collect, clean, and distribute reusable dishware

·         Dispose of recycling and other waste properly at the end of the market

·         Assist in other areas of the market as needed

·         Maintain an outgoing and approachable attitude. Crew members are ambassadors of the Farmer’s Markets and must provide excellent customer service

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         A passionate commitment to the goals and mission of Adelante Mujeres and support for immigrant and BIPOC communities

·         Excellent verbal communication skills in English, bilingual in Spanish is a plus


·         Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

·         Ability to work in the evenings and outdoors in varying weather conditions

·         Stand on feet for hours at a time and walk various miles per market evening

·         Ability to lift, push, carry, and pull up to 30 pounds repeatedly

·         Ability to solve problems independently

·         Experience with deescalating situations and approaching conflicts with patience and non-violent communication

·         Experience with Washington County Master Recycler Program preferred but not required

·         Committed to education, social justice, women’s empowerment and the environment

Additional Requirements:

·         COVID-19 vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical accommodation

·         Complete Criminal Background Check

·         Access to reliable transportation

·         Ability to travel to off-site venues to attend workshops or trainings

 

SALARY & BENEFITS:

·         Seasonal: April 18 – October 26, 2022

·         Classification: Minimal part-time, hourly, approximately 16 hours a week

·         Hourly rate: $17/per hour

·         Benefits: Sick days, personal day off, prorated holidays
