Job description

Reports to:       Johnson Creek Watershed Council, Courtney Beckel

Duration:         Feb - March 2020, Up to 3 months, seasonal, part time

Compensation  $15.15/hr, 3-10 hours weekly flexible schedule with a total of 33 hours

The Johnson Creek Watershed Council (JCWC) seeks two multilingual, multicultural Spanish speaking interns with a passion for environmental stewardship and environmental justice! Our staff will provide you with mentorship and professional guidance geared towards a career path in the nonprofit and environmental sectors. Discovering how the power of your language can serve to connect members of your community with nature and open opportunities in education and advancement!

 

We’re happy to work around your school or work schedule! Potential to continue on in an expanded internship capacity.

 

Position Description:

 

General Responsibilities (to include, but not limited to):

  • Lead verbal translation of habitat enhancement work on Sat., March 7 from 8 am-2 pm at our Watershed Wide volunteer event

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment asks to community groups via phone, email and in person

  • Translate event post and materials

  • Create a journal of all activities each week; ensuring a well-kept record of accomplishments

  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

 

Outcomes:

 

  • Involvement with community engagement, outreach, organization, event-planning, and coordination

  • Networking opportunity—build relationships with local businesses, community groups, environmental professionals and jurisdictions

  • Familiarity with the workings of a dynamic, conservation-oriented nonprofit

  • Training and expertise in best practices for community outreach
