Title: Outreach & Procurement Specialist
Supervisor: Communications Director
Hours: Part Time, 20 hours per week
Salary: $14.00 per hour

Community Warehouse is the only nonprofit, full-service furniture bank in this region that collects and redistributes donated furniture and household goods to neighbors in need.
Through two locations (Portland and Tualatin) and partnerships with over 200 social service agencies, public schools, and faith communities, the Warehouse helps 60 families every week stabilize their lives by providing them with the basics that turn their housing into more comfortable, functional homes. Families are able to receive beds, a kitchen table and chairs, a dresser, sofa, living room furniture, lamps, items for cooking and linens all in a single visit. These basic comforts of home go a long way in helping people improve their stability, quality of life, and self-sufficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for furthering community outreach efforts and increasing visibility of the organization through direct contact with the general public and current/prospective individual and business donors. The successful candidate will build relationships through ongoing outreach events, management of the organization’s collection drive program, procurement research and direct outreach to secure donations of Community Warehouse’s most needed items.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
Soliciting household goods and furniture donations
Cold calling potential donors
Schedule and assist in coordination of collection drives, community events, outreach/speaking engagements, and procurement activities
Public outreach to furniture retailers, businesses, organizations, and other institutions
Personally interact with public at events; set up and tear down event booths
Ability to work scheduled event dates and some weekend hours
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate a wide range of activities simultaneously
Sustain physical activity such as walking, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds
Ability to travel within greater Portland Metro area (regular access to medium-sized vehicle that can carry outreach booth materials)
Willingness to have flexible schedule (varying hours week-to-week)
Ability to engage enthusiastically with clients, staff and volunteers (take photographs as needed)
Create and produce basic materials and publications used in outreach efforts
Develop tools and strategies for securing new furniture donations
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must have current driver’s license and be comfortable driving medium-sized vehicle and 10 foot box truck
Ability to speak comfortably in public (smaller audiences)
Outgoing and upbeat personality with a willingness and desire to have fun!
Proficient computer and word processing skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, email
Copywriting/journalism/blogging experience preferred
Genuine interest to work in non-profit realm
