Explore how our region will turn an estimated 59,000 tons of food scraps into fertilizer, compost and biogas! There is a limited number of spaces on this tour.

Westside Master Recyclers joined this weekend to talk about how to Spring back into action. We dusted off the events displays, talked about new resources and laws, and remembered how much fun it is to be together as a community.

We will have tables set up for you to see practice your skills, and get a refresher on topics, how to schedule and check out a kit, and more.

¡Felicidades a la Clase 80! Tenemos 17 nuevos Expertos/as para dar la bienvenida a la comunidad. La tercera clase de habla hispana se graduó la semana pasada. Ya están compartiendo su pasión por el reciclaje en eventos en la comunidad. Gracias a Metro, Centro Cultural y el Condado de Washington por esta increíble asociación.
Congratulations to Class 80! We have 17 new Master Recyclers to welcome to our community. The third all Spanish-language class graduated last week. They are already sharing their passion for recycling in community events. Thank you to Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling Centro Cultural de Washington County and Metro for this incredible partnership.
CERTIFIED/CERDIFICADOS
Sheila O'Leary (Class 78) completed her 30-hour commitment and became an officially Certified Master Recycler. A teacher at Quatama Elementary, Sheila is inspiring young minds on all things recycling. Her active Green Team of grade schoolers made videos, wrote in the school bulletin (Waste-less Wednesday Words of Wisdom), and created murals from reused bottle caps! Her school recognized the team with front page stories on their website, and her activities have gotten the attention of the Washington Co. Chamber of Commerce who nominated Sheila for a Crystal Apple award! Sheila says they will announce winners next month, but "getting nominated by fellow teachers and parents was the biggest honor!"

Una maestra en la escuela primaria Quatama, Sheila está inspirando a las mentes jóvenes en todo lo relacionado con el reciclaje. ¡Su activo Equipo Verde de estudiantes hizo videos, escribió en el boletín escolar (Waste-less Wednesday Words of Wisdom) y creó murales con tapas de botellas reutilizadas!
