Overview
The City of Gresham is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Multifamily Recycling & Solid Waste Coordinator. In this role, the selected candidate will be integral to the strategic planning for equitable engagement, outreach, programs, and campaigns that ensure multifamily properties and residents have equitable access to garbage and recycling services. This position will work as part of a cohesive team to not just ensure compliance with the State of Oregon’s Opportunity to Recycle Act and Oregon Metro’s 2030 Regional Waste Plan, but to also implement new, regional guidelines to improve recycling and waste collection at multifamily properties. Overseen by the Solid Waste & Sustainability manager, this Multifamily Recycling & Sold Waste Coordinator will coordinate with licensed haulers, our community partner, Trash for Peace, on tenant education and property manager technical assistance.

Position Description
What you will get to do:
Drive and manage the planning and implementation of multifamily-focused engagement and outreach around garbage reduction, recycling, food waste reduction, climate resieincy, and thoughtful consumption practices.
Troubleshoot challenges multifamily residents, property managers, and owners encounter around garbage, recycling, and bulky item disposal; develop effective tools for waste prevention and improved consumer purchasing practices.
Establish effective working relationships with and serve as a liaison to jurisdictional partners, affordable housing partners, rental housing associations, community-based organizations, volunteers, and waste industry partners.
Collaborate with City enforcement staff to ensure multifamily property owners meet City’s recycling guidelines an service standards.
Maintain multifamily bag program.
Develop and maintain communication channels to reach multifamily residents, such as social media, newsletters, print, online media, presence in the community, presentations, and public events.
Assist in development of educational and outreach materials.
Manage contracts, track, and recommend annual budgetary needs.
Plan and manage community collection events.
Track and record program and outreach data; create reports and/or presentations on program plans and accomplishments; assist with state and regional required waste reduction reporting.

Physically perform the essential job functions
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree*
One (1) to four (4) years of experience developing, implementing, managing and supporting community engagement.
Valid Driver's License
Good driving record as defined by our driving matrix
*Equivalency of 3-6 years of qualifying education, training, and/or experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Bilingual language proficiency in Spanish, Vietnamese, or other Title VI language(s)
Experience researching, planning, developing, creating content for, and/or implementing an outreach and education campaign.
Experience successfully collaborating with communities of color and/or communities traditionally underrepresented in decision-making; facilitating inclusive participation in programs and activities; and communicating cross culturally.
Experience managing projects, tracking budgets, and ensuring compliance with project or program requirements (e.g., state, regional or other requirements)
Driving Matrix:
You will be disqualified from this process if you possess any of the following driving infractions:
A major traffic violation or accident that results in death or major injury.
Driving under the influence (DUI) charge within the last 5 years.
Have more than 3 moving violations within a 3-year period or more than 2 within a one-year period.
Have more than 2 accidents within a 3-year period.
