Salary: $21.50/hour, $22,360 annual

Community Warehouse (CW) is a nonprofit furniture bank that redistributes donated furniture and household goods to neighbors in need. Through two locations (Portland and Tualatin) and referrals from over 200 partner agencies, the Warehouse helps families and individuals turn their empty housing into comfy homes. Families are able to pick out essential household items that help improve their quality of life at home. We also operate two Estate Stores that sell some donated items to support our mission and engage the community in shopping for a cause.

Position Summary:
The Finance Assistant manages daily financial responsibilities and supports all departments with financial and administrative needs through the Business office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities:
Communicate with vendors/customers about accounts receivable and payable
Manage records, policies, and procedures
Respond to staff on a range of needs/questions for Business office
Assist with grant tracking in collaboration with the Development Department
Manage monthly office supply order
Process mail, bills, and checks
Attend expected/required meetings
Other duties as relevant/necessary
Financial Management:
Process daily cash receipts
Reconcile accounts and bank statements
Manage Accounts Receivable and Payable
Support annual budgeting process
Compile financial records for auditing
Assist with year-end closing procedures
Assist with special projects as needed
Physical Demands*
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Keying/typing
Lifting between 1-5 lbs

Experience in Nonprofit Accounting
Friendly, helpful, kind, and engaging personality in order to ascertain team needs
Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills
Ability maintain high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong computer skills
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of Restricted and Unrestricted grant funding

COVID-19 Working Conditions
Community Warehouse has been designated as an essential service and as such, continues to employ staff working onsite at both Warehouses. This position is expected to work onsite (primarily at the Portland Warehouse) to adequately complete job duties, including processing mail and checks, bank deposit prep, etc., with some flexibility to work from home as agreed upon with the supervisor. All staff are required to have up-to-date COVID vaccinations/boosters.
