Job Title: QA Materials Handler
Reports to: Sanitation Supervisor
Department: Quality Assurance
Classification: Non-exempt; $20.00/hr starting base pay
Absence Coverage: Sanitation Supervisor

Position Overview: The QA Materials Handler is responsible for all aspects of the company’s recycling, upcycling, and waste reduction programming in support of Bob Red Mill’s sustainability goals. Monitors waste and recycling data, analyzes program success, and identifies and implements opportunities for improvement.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates all trash and recycling removal.
Process, prepare, and transport recycling materials.
Identifies and implements new recycling opportunities.
Works with team members to effectively complete recycling materials movement in an efficient manner.
Maintains, manages, and operates recycling equipment.
Communicates and coordinates shipments with waste and recycling vendor contacts.
Completes documentation thoroughly and accurately and assists in maintaining recycling records for reporting and tracking.
Communicates recycling information and training to staff.
Coordinates employee engagement events relating to recycling.
Maintains signage and other communications to promote recycling and waste reduction.
Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Other tasks and duties as may be assigned.
Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possesses knowledge of recycling practices
Forklift operator
Command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Possesses good communication skills both written and orally.
Knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Ability to work well individually and as a member of a team.
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
Possesses a good understanding of equipment and would be considered mechanically inclined.

Ability to work in an environment where exposure to potential food allergens is or may be present.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1-3 years of previous experience in the food packaging industry, and/or recycling coordination, materials management, or related experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
Occasional lifting of items up to 55 pounds.
May be exposed to significant extremes in temperature, noise and dust.
Position may require standing for long periods of time.
Position will require walking, crouching, bending for long period of time, walking up and down stairs with occasional lifting.
Position requires the ability to work at a fast pace in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment:
The primary work environment for this position is within the production environment. May work with hazardous chemicals.
Use of personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, safety glasses and hairnets are mandatory, and use of non-slip shoes is recommended.
The noise level in the work environment moderate to high.
