Apply to be a Crew Leader with the Youth Conservation Crew (YCC).
Lead a group of teenagers ages 14-19 as they work on trees, trails, habitat, gardens, and more. Help teens develop a love of nature in the city, and the skills and knowledge they need to protect it.
Available Positions: We are hiring 10 crew leaders to lead 5 crews:
Community Gardens Crew (hiring 2)
Natural Area Crew – East side (hiring 2)
Natural Area Crew – West side (hiring 2)
Trail Crew (hiring 2)
Tree Crew (hiring 2)

Work Schedule:
Dates: June 13 - August 19, 2022
Hours: Monday (8:30am - 2:30pm); Tuesday - Friday (7:15am - 3:15pm)
Crew leaders may begin working earlier than June 13 on a flexible schedule if available.
Compensation:
Hourly rate is $17-$24 an hour, depending on experience and training.
Crew leaders also take part in professional development, networking, and growth opportunities. For many crew leaders, YCC is an entry into Portland Parks & Recreation. We invest in our crew leaders!
These positions are not benefit-eligible.

To Qualify
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
Ability to promote equity, diversity, inclusion and provide culturally responsive leadership.
Experience working with teenagers.
Knowledge and familiarity with nature, the outdoors, or environmental education.
Applicants must also:
Be at least 20 years old by June 13, 2022.
Have gotten the COVID-19 shots per City/State mandate or have an approved exception by date of hire.
