Portland Clean Energy Fund Community Engagement Aid (Close Jan 31)

The primary focus of the position will be supporting PCEF’s outreach cohort of six community engagement consultants with administrative and coordination support as they design and implement their community engagement strategies.

This position presents an opportunity for the Community Engagement Aide to learn about PCEF in addition to gaining skills in the areas of facilitating community engagement processes, building relationships with frontline serving organizations, collecting, and analyzing data, and inclusive and accessible community engagement practices.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with outreach and communications
- Participating in event planning and staffing
- Assisting with project management of cohort’s community engagement strategies
- Collecting and entering data into Salesforce database
- Taking detailed meetings notes and tracking tasks and deadlines
- Tracking email inquiries and engaging with staff to develop responses
- Scheduling meetings
- Preparing meeting materials

Work LocationCurrently, many positions with the City of Portland are being performed remotely due to COVID-19. In the future, current positions classified as “full-time remote” could: 1) remain full-time remote, 2) become a remote/onsite mix, 3) revert to full-time at a city work location. As the situation evolves, the exact work location of the position in this recruitment may change based upon leadership direction and approval.
This position is not benefits eligible. This is a temporary Community Service Aide (CSA) II position with a maximum of 1,400 hours in a calendar year.

(This is a temporary position that does not accrue sick, vacation or holiday leave, but will accrue limited city sick leave benefits; will not be eligible for health, disability or other employee benefits; and will not accrue seniority or have bumping rights.)

To Qualify

Applicants must specifically address and demonstrate in their resume and cover letter how their education, training and/or experience, meets each of the following minimum qualifications: 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Experience in organizing and tracking multiple projects, tasks, and information
2. Ability to work in a team environment and manage time to complete tasks and meet deadlines
3. Ability to use the internet and other resources to research and find information related to community engagement and climate change
4. Ability to plan and manage events in virtual and in-person environments
5. Knowledge of and/or connection to PCEF priority communities, specifically those who have been under-served and under-represented in climate and energy related programs, including Black and Indigenous people, and people with disabilities

• Experience with and/or knowledge of the following related topic areas: climate change, traditional ecological knowledge, first foods, workforce development, contractor development, renewable energy and energy efficiency, public health, community development, and sustainability.
• Experience working collaboratively with people from different backgrounds, values, and professional responsibilities, and/or experience working in a multi-cultural setting.
