Wild X:
Wild X is a project geared to support Black, Indigenous and POC students as they face the challenge of virtual learning. To combat the barriers presented by virtual learning, Wild X will be in-person outdoor education based in hands-on learning mixed with Common Core curriculum. Our goal is to support parents and students alike by providing a full-time educational program that is COVID-safe and will keep them on track educationally. Wild X will partner with other non-profits and organizations three days per week to provide hands-on classes without the lead educator, followed by two days of learning with the lead educator. Elementary Education Teacher Position Description:
We are looking to hire a dedicated Elementary Education Teacher to teach a full-time outdoor educational experience to Black, Indigenous and/or Students of Color (BIPOC) at the K - 2 level. Educators who are Black, Indigenous and/or People of Color are strongly encouraged to apply. The Elementary Education Teacher will seek to convey Wild X’s philosophy of education through instruction and example, and provide lessons that meet students' requirements, interests and capabilities. You will take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, and keep accurate records in compliance with relevant laws, policies and regulations. You will collaborate with administration to create and implement rules and policies regulating student conduct.
The lead educator will have a caseload of 20 students total and will see each student two days per week for seven to eight hours. This position is supported by an assistant instructor who will work in-person to their assigned pod of 10 students every day. These instructors will help support the lead educator by helping curtail behaviors, apply first aid, etc. so the lead educator can focus on the lesson of the day.
Salary: $50,000/year

Elementary Education Teacher Responsibilities:
Implement the Wild X curriculum four days per week to two pods of 10 students. You will teach each pod for two days per week, outdoors..
Implement and adjust provided curriculum to meet student needs
Practice Wild X and government standards at all times to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19
Meet with student parents as needed
Be willing to navigate the educational process outside of the confines of traditional education, which has historically not served BIPOC or low-income youth to their greatest ability
Seek to educate the whole person, and meet them where they are regarding their educational needs.
Report to Wild X staff when a student has needs that cannot be met within the educational format: Food scarcity, family and housing instability, lack of resources to have basic needs met, etc.
Establish a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
Advance positive interpersonal relationships with and between students and staff
Communicate proficiently with students.
Prepare for assigned classes and provide lessons at designated times.
Ask for support when needed to help meet student needs and meet the educational goals of Wild X
Make great effort to keep students in program: Work with parents and support staff when a child is acting out; seek support if a child cannot get access to transportation; look to meet the needs of the whole child with the support of other staff
Incorporate support staff into class roles so you feel supported and that you are able to best educate students
Elementary School Teacher Requirements:
Outstanding organizational skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Availability to work extended hours on occasions.
Willingness to acquire first aid and CPR certification.
Bachelor’s degree in elementary school education.
Valid state licensure.
Proficient knowledge of teaching strategies and methods.
Proficient knowledge of applicable laws, policies and procedures.
Excellent people skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
