The Sustainable Facilities Program Specialist will perform a variety of basic and routine tasks that support activities and operations in the Facilities and Parks Services Division (Facilities) and the Sustainability Program (Sustainability) of the Support Services Department. This position will be responsible for executing assigned sustainability and facilities program work, serving internal customers, and acting as a technical resource. The position provides staff support to committees and projects, responds to employee inquiries. This position will also be an active participant in the County's Strategic Energy Management (SEM) initiatives.
The ideal candidate for this position has excellent communication skills, strong data entry and analysis aptitude, and general knowledge of building science and facilities management. The candidate should be comfortable working on a variety of tasks, assisting with larger projects, and serving as a contributing member of an internally-facing Department. Someone with training, experience, and interest in energy efficiency, energy conservation, sustainability, and facilities management would be a good fit for this program.
This Limited Duration, Part-Time grant-funded position must complete certain specific tasks supporting the Energy Trust of Oregon’s Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program. The successful candidate:
Will be required to develop and deliver a presentation detailing work completed during their time with Washington County.
Will work no more than 24 hours per week, for a term of no more than 6 months. The actual work schedule can be flexible and will be determined upon hire.

The Sustainable Facilities Program Specialist final candidate cannot be a current or past employee of Washington County. This eligibility requirement is set by the Energy Trust of Oregon, who funds this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Sustainable Facilities Program Specialist primary duties include:
Participate in Strategic Energy Management (SEM) workshops, coaching calls and provide SEM coaches with regular updates.
Help review current opportunity register and Energy Management Action Plan, assisting with updates.
Compile and enter data from utility bills into Energy Manager online system.
Assist with the Employee Engagement Energy Team (Energy Team):
Participate in online meetings and take notes;
Assist with developing and deploying employee engagement activities;
Develop educational information about energy conservation to share via newsletter articles, intranet posts, emails and website; and
Participate in review and update of the Energy Conservation Toolkit.
Learn about County building systems and facilities management by shadowing/assisting Facilities staff working on building energy efficiency upgrades, lighting and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) work.
Assist with process to review sustainability goal achievements and update County sustainability goals and plan.
Assist with creation of an internal climate exchange program to help departments learn and share about ongoing sustainability and climate-related work
Support programs and projects of Facilities and Sustainability.
Develop and deliver presentation detailing SEM work completed during the internship

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
An Associate's Degree or higher in Science, Environmental Studies, Energy Management, Sustainability, Facilities Maintenance, Data Science, Public Management/Administration, Education; or a closely related field AND
One (1) year of work experience in sustainability program administration development, evaluation, or coordination; facilities management; and/or data management; OR
Three (3) years of work experience in sustainability program administration development, evaluation, or coordination; facilities management; and/or data management
