Position summary

One full-time position is available. Schedule: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., with possible Saturday assignment upon occasion.
 
As a program assistant for the Recycling Information Center (RIC) you'll use your project management, technical expertise, and program coordination skills to support the program's business operations.  You will work in partnership with a diverse team of Recycling Specialists and Outreach Educators.  The teams provide waste prevention, recycling and disposal information via community outreach events, phone, email, social media, the web, television, radio, and print media.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assists with project management (example projects: upgrade to the recycling information database and internal interface; upgrade to the garbage and recycling web section and find-a-recycler search tool; and development of a program resiliency plan)

  • Assists with the administration of CenturyLink Genesys call center system, the recycler/materials information database as well as various ad hoc databases.

  • Assists with design and generation of program analytic reports and dashboards.

  • Assists with technical research and report writing.

  • Assists project teams in applying an equity lens to information and education program services and resources.

  • Leads program development initiatives: developing program standards, process improvement mapping, work flow guides, training workshops, etc.

  • Acts as media and community outreach logistical coordinator.

  • Acts as program representative/liaison with internal departments, external stakeholders, local government partners, referral businesses and communities throughout the region.

  • Assists with acquisition and maintenance of program staff software and hardware needs.

  • Processes invoices and other accounting or budget data.

  • May coordinate and lead the work of assigned staff and volunteers.


This position is represented by AFSCME Local 3580 and is classified as a Program Assistant III (click to read the full classification). Classification descriptions are typically written broadly and do not include the specific duties and responsibilities of the positions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience performing complex program administrative functions, AND

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.; OR

  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the desired knowledge skills and ability required to perform the job


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing and/or coordinating multifaceted projects

  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio)

  • Knowledge of techniques and procedures used in gathering, evaluating and reporting information.
