Check out the Resourceful PDX kit and set up a table during the ReStore's DIY Earth Week Celebration.
During Earth Week, April 16th - 22nd, our store will be highlighting DIY items and information. On April 21st they would like to have Master Recyclers share resources and knowledge around resourcefulness, reusing, and general green practices.
The Portland ReStore is a project of Habitat for Humanity that takes in donations of building material, home furniture and appliances, and sells them as a fundraiser to build homes for low-income families. As we work with new and used items with a goal of keeping items from the landfill, we look for volunteer support around educating our customers and volunteers around DIY possibilities and also how to properly dispose of items we cannot take in - be it taking items to another reuse organization or to the proper end of life destination.
We are asking for a four hour time-frame, with a bit of set up and take down, between 11 am and 3 pm. This could be a two hour shift, or a full four hours, and we would want at least two people at any given time. If there is enough interest, we can expand the time to 10 am to 5 pm, which is the full store hours.
Knowledge of Clackamas County and Gresham waste systems would be helpful as we border those locations. Common non-english languages include Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.
