Join the team of Master Recyclers who have turned the Forest Grove Farmers Market into a sustainability machine. This is a highly rewarding and fun environmental gig: The hot food vendors are supplied with washable dinner plates, utensils and cloth napkins. After these items are used they are returned to the “Waste Center” where they are collected for commercial washing. Aluminum foil, plastic ware, beverage bottles and cans are dropped off for recycling. Plus, food scraps and paper napkins are collected for composting. This effort has reduced waste from eight 30-gallon garbage bags to less than one. All the while visitors receive education and tips about recycling and waste reduction.
