Staff the Portland Climate Action Now (CAN) Food Exhibit! With the Portland CAN Food exhibit, you will engage people in strategies to reduce food waste.

Food production, distribution, and disposal accounts for about 16 percent of household carbon emissions. The average family throws away 25 percent of the food it buys, wasting about $1,600 a year. 

The CAN Food exhibit focuses on three waste reduction strategies: meal planning and shopping lists to buy only what is needed; proper storage to keep food fresh and tasty; and ways to make sure food at home gets eaten before going to waste.
